HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Young athletes with the new nonprofit MC Wrestling in Hopkinsville are set to compete at the State Tournament in February.

Launched in the summer of 2024, the youth wrestling organization was created by Michael and Chelsea McAllister in an effort to make the sport of competitive wrestling accessible to kids of all ages in Hopkinsville and Christian County. In their first year, the organization has secured enough donations to facilitate a comfortable practice space and equipment at Northwest Baptist Church.

Comprised of mostly beginners, the Huskies brought eight wrestlers to compete at the KFWC Region 1 Championships on Jan. 19. Chelsea told Christian County Now that they brought home three gold medals and three bronze medals. Six wrestlers will represent the team at the State Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky on Feb. 2.
