HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A traffic stop and a search warrant occurring on Monday led to multiple drug-related charges and the arrest three different individuals.

Around 6:30 p.m. on May 19, Christian County Sheriff’s Office deputies were in the area of Hillside Terrace looking for 42-year-old man, who was wanted on felony drug charges. The residence was known to law enforcement as a location tied to suspected drug activity, according to a news release from CCSO.

Just after 6:40 p.m., two vehicles left the home. One of the vehicles committed several traffic violations and was stopped near Sanderson Drive. Inside were three people, including the wanted suspect. He was taken into custody on his active warrant, charged with Possession of Meth and Drug Paraphernalia.

During the stop, deputies and a K-9 officer with the Hopkinsville Police Department searched the vehicle and found methamphetamine, marijuana, Gabapentin pills, used needles, and drug paraphernalia. The suspect and the driver, a 48-year-old man from Cadiz, were arrested, both charged with trafficking meth, possession of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Both were transported to the Christian County Jail.

Additional arrest Monday

In a separate arrest on May 19 deputies served a search warrant and arrested a woman at a residence in the 200 block of Hillside Terrace. This arrest comes after an ongoing narcotics investigation.

During the search, suspected methamphetamine was found inside a purse belonging to 62-year-old Hopkinsville woman, along with multiple small plastic baggies commonly used in drug trafficking, says a news release.

Drug paraphernalia, including a digital scale, glass smoking pipes with marijuana residue, and a marijuana grinder, was also recovered from the area next to her belongings. She was taken into custody and transported to the Christian County Jail. Upon intake, a body scan revealed concealed contraband. Jail staff recovered a small bag of marijuana and a small bag of methamphetamine hidden on her person.

As a result, she faces the following charges.

  • Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree (Methamphetamine, less than 2 grams)
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence
  • Promoting Contraband, 1st Degree
