OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – On May 31, Oak Grove Police officers were at Sonic when staff alerted them to a suspicious person inside the building who was refusing to leave. Officers ultimately arrested 40-year-old Hopkinsville man.

A news release from Oak Grove Police said that at approximately 5:15 p.m., officers encountered the operator of a motorcycle after Sonic staff reported a suspicious individual who appeared to be hiding inside the building. When police attempted to speak with the person, he fled through a back door.

Officers apprehended him at the rear of the building and identified him as Donald Merritt. He had eight outstanding warrants for multiple offenses after failing to appear in court, according to Oak Grove PD. Merritt was arrested and placed in the Christian County Jail, and in addition to being served with his eight warrants, he was also charged with several motor vehicle violation offenses and a drug possession charge.
