HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – On June 7-8, families and individuals can fish for free in the state of Kentucky. For this first weekend in June, it is not required for any person, resident or otherwise, to pay for a fishing license or permit before taking to the water.
According to the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources, there will still be some regulations in place, despite the free fishing weekend. “The weekend pass doesn’t entitle you to hop your neighbor’s fence and access their pond,” said a news release. “You always need permission to fish private waters. It’s also not an excuse to ignore daily limits, size limits or other regulations.”
In Christian County, there are a few places that are perfect for aspiring and established anglers. Lake Morris, Lake Blythe, Jeffers Bend, and the Pennyrile Lake are all located in and around the county, each with unique features. See a list of the best fishing spots here.
