HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Two people have been arrested for various charges, including drug trafficking, after several firearms and narcotics were found in their vehicle Monday night in Hopkinsville.
On July 21, at approximately 9:57 p.m. Christian County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling southbound on Fort Campbell Boulevard near Clinic Drive in Hopkinsville. The stop was initiated due to excessively tinted windows, a violation of Kentucky law, and suspicion of the vehicle being uninsured.
The driver, Kenneth Fornof, 33, of Dover, TN, and the passenger, Valentina Soto, 25, were contacted during the stop. Fornof admitted the vehicle was uninsured and revealed he was on parole, subject to search and seizure. Deputies observed a magnetic lock box containing a large sum of cash and a Narcan container, commonly associated with drug activity. Fornof admitted to possessing a shotgun and handgun inside the vehicle and methamphetamine in a suitcase in the truck’s bed.
A search of the vehicle uncovered a handgun and shotgun in the cabin, four additional firearms in a lock box in the truck’s bed, and a suitcase containing methamphetamine, cocaine, empty baggies, and a digital scale. A black bag belonging to Soto was found to contain methamphetamine, marijuana, and a methamphetamine pipe. Fornof, a multi-time convicted felon, was prohibited from possessing firearms.
Kenneth Fornof is facing the following charges: Excessive window tinting, failure to maintain required insurance, drug paraphernalia, trafficking in controlled substances (methamphetamine and cocaine), possession of a handgun and firearm by a convicted felon and using restricted ammunition during a felony.
Valentina Soto is facing the following charges: Drug paraphernalia, trafficking in controlled substances (methamphetamine), and possession of marijuana.
