HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A Hopkinsville man has been arrested after his young daughter was found unattended on the roadway. On Aug. 19 around 8 a.m., officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department were dispatched to Greenwood Drive after kids who were waiting for the school bus called 911 in reference to a young girl approaching them on her own.

The girl told officers she was four years old, with officers finding that the backdoor of the residence was open. 48-year-old Andrepaul Ray pulled up shortly after, and according to the arrest report, there was a strong smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. While being detained, he stated that he had just gotten of work, and the mother of the child had already left for work.

Evidence of marijuana use was reportedly found in the vehicle, and he was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for a blood draw before being booked into Christian County Jail. He is being charged with criminal abuse of a child in the third degree and driving under the influence.

The arrest report from HPD disclosed that officers had been at the same residence in January after a one-year-old was found wandering on the road unattended in 25-degree weather. That instance led to the arrest of a woman, who was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and trafficking in marijuana.
