HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – An accident early Monday morning killed one person, leaving a large portion of the interstate shut down to traffic.
According to Christian County ECC, the fatal wreck involved a collision between a semi-truck and a pedestrian around the 74-mile marker of I-24 heading westbound. Around 5:45 a.m., crews were dispatched to begin their investigation and reconstruction of the crash scene which will take up to four hours.
KYTC traffic map shows that the interstate is shut down for multiple miles beginning at Cox Mill Road. Traffic is being routed off I-69 onto I-169. Motorists should then exit onto U.S. 68/ Eagle Way Bypass to U.S. 68/ Cadiz Road, which will take them back to I-24 at Cadiz in Trigg County.
