HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southern Christian County and southeastern Trigg County until 4 p.m. Monday.

At 3:15 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Big Rock, Tennessee, about 14 miles northeast of Dover, moving northeast at 30 mph. The storm is capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 mph, according to radar.

Forecasters warn the storm could cause damage to roofs, siding and trees. Areas expected to be impacted include Hopkinsville, Pembroke, Lafayette and Herndon.

The warning also covers portions of Interstate 24 between mile markers 75 and 85 and the Pennyrile Parkway between mile markers 1 and 7.

Residents are advised to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building for protection.
