HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Police are trying to locate individuals responsible for fatally hitting a Hopkinsville man on the interstate Thursday evening. The 72-year-old victim was walking on the I-24 in Nashville, Tennessee near mile marker 42 around 5:50 p.m. on Nov. 13 after experiencing car trouble.
WKRN in Nashville reports that the Hopkinsville man was a passenger in a Chevy Impala, which had stopped on the right shoulder with two flat tires. The man got out and walked on the interstate to find the mile marker to give to a wrecker service when their call ended abruptly after he was struck.
The driver of the vehicle told Metro Nashville Police Department investigators that the motorists that struck the victim braked, got out of their vehicles and drove away without contact, according to WKRN.
The victims identify has not been released. Anyone who believes they may have witnessed or been involved in this deadly crash is asked to contact the Metro Traffic Division at 615-862-7738.
