HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – There is something for everyone this weekend with a variety of events and activities to check out in Hopkinsville. Catch the final rivalry game between HHS and CCHS, grab some tickets to catch a live show at the Alhambra, create a journal, adopt a cat, or go to a grand reopening of a local store.
HHS vs. CCHS Basketball Doubleheader
- When: Jan. 9 at 6 p.m.
- Where: Christian County High School Lyle Dunbar Gymnasium

- Details: The final rivalry matchup between Christian County and Hopkinsville High School, with the girls team starting at 6 p.m. and the boys playing around 7:30 p.m. after the hall of fame induction ceremony.

- Details: Kick off the new year with an evening of live music, heartfelt storytelling and Southern humor with author, musician and humorist Sean Dietrich, known as Sean of the South. A bestselling author and popular podcaster, Dietrich blends wit, charm and poignant reflections on life in the South for a night filled with laughter and inspiration.

- Details: Saving Kittens Sanctuary is hosting an adoption event. They will be doing same-day adoptions, but cats may not leave without being in a carrier! All of cats come fixed and fully vetted, to include FVRCP, Rabies, Microchip, Flea & Tick, dewormer, combo test, and spay or neuter.

- Where: Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot, Hopkinsville

- Details: Everyone is welcome to bring a car, truck, bike, or just stop by to check out the rides. Enjoy coffee, great vehicles and community with local car enthusiasts. Organizers say the biggest turnout typically starts around 9 a.m.
White Flowers Grand Re-Opening
- When: Jan. 10, 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
- Where: White Flowers, 4026 Fort Campbell Blvd., Hopkinsville
- Details: White Flowers will celebrate the grand re-opening of its new location with cake, lemonade and a wide selection of new spring and boutique items. Shoppers can also expect the same deals and pricing the store is known for. The shop is located in front of Showbox Theaters, between Hays Ways to Save and Hopkinsville Animal Clinic.

- Where: Hopkinsville Martial Arts
- Cost: $10
- Details: Hopkinsville Martial Arts will host a women’s self-defense seminar for ages 13 and up. The hands-on course will cover victim awareness, mental preparedness, attitude development, fundamental physical techniques and counters to common attacks, with participants practicing on pads and targets. All proceeds benefit Sanctuary. Space is limited. Participants under 18 must have parental approval and a signed release form submitted prior to the seminar.

- Details: Readers can kick off 2026 by creating a personalized book journal. The event includes decorating supplies and inspiration to design reading trackers, review pages and more. A $5 ticket includes access to stickers and enhancements. Attendees should bring their own journal, pens and markers, or purchase a journal kit on site, with small and large kits available for purchase at an additional cost.
