HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Christian County Public Schools has announced that Corey Batey has been named as the Director of Special Education, effective July 1, 2026. Batey currently serves as the Assistant Director of Special Education for the district.

“Ms. Batey has been an important part of our district for many years and has played a tremendous role in supporting special education services and the students we serve,” said Superintendent Chris Bentzel. “Her experience, leadership, and heart for students make her a natural fit for this role, and we are excited to see her continue building on the strong foundation she has already helped create within Christian County Public Schools.”

Batey has 15 years of experience in Christian County Public Schools, serving in a variety of roles including reading teacher and special education teacher at Hopkinsville Middle School. She later served as a special education consultant and most recently as Assistant Director of Special Education. Batey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Marshall University, a Master of Arts in Special Education from Austin Peay State University, and a Rank I in Educational Administration along with a Director of Special Education Endorsement from Murray State University. She is also a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT).

Throughout her career, she has remained committed to supporting students, families, and educators by strengthening special education services and ensuring access to high-quality, individualized learning opportunities for all students.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as Director of Special Education for Christian County Public Schools after learning and growing so much in my role as Assistant Director,” Batey said. “That experience has prepared me for this next step, and I am excited to continue supporting our students, staff, and families while helping move the district forward through collaboration, communication, and a strong commitment to student success. ”

Batey and her husband Josh, reside in Hopkinsville and she has a daughter, Jaila.
