CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Families in Christian County once again have a free place nearby to have fun in the water as the Gordon Park Spray Park in Crofton reopens. The popular, free splash pad in Crofton was closed for the start of the summer for repairs, which have officially completed.

The work ended up taking multiple weeks as city officials waited for the correct parts to be ordered and installed. The splash pad will be open on weekends this summer from 1-7 p.m. on Saturdays and 1-5 p.m. on Sundays, according to the City of Crofton.

With the closing of Bluegrass Splash Family Aquatic Center, Gordon Park is now the only location with a splash pad and water play area in Christian County, aside from families with YMCA memberships.

In past years, families used to flock to downtown Hopkinsville to play in the fountain at Little River Park, but public works confirmed that it was damaged in a previous flood and still has not been fixed. Hopkinsville Public Works Director Mike Perry told Christian County Now that the repairs are in their five-year capital budget, but they are unsure if and when they will receive funding.

The rest of Gordon Park has basketball and volleyball courts along with a softball field, walking trail, a newly renovated playground, and a pond for catch and release fishing.
