Update, 12:20 p.m.: Firefighters continue to work to contain and fully extinguish fire at Metalsa. The fire is about at 95% containment, according to HFD.

“Our crews continue to battle and locate this fire, which is below ground in pits,” said Fire Chief Steve Futrell. “The building has suffered a roof collapse over the seat of the fire, making operations extremely challenging and dangerous for our personnel. The entire Chief Staff is on-scene, committed to extinguishing this fire safely.”

The exact cause is still under investigation.

HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Four stations of the Hopkinsville Fire Department were called early Tuesday morning to a fire at Metalsa Manufacturing Plant in Hopkinsville, located at 301 Bill Bryan Blvd.

Upon arrival, crews were met with a large fire coming from the roof of the facility, according to a release from HFD. Firefighters worked quickly to establish a water supply and set up aerial operations to attack the fire.

All factory staff were safely evacuated and over 15 firefighters were working on the fire with no injuries to report, according to the release. As of 8:30 a.m., conditions began improving as crews continue to operate at the structure fire. Fire crews remain on the scene and are mainly operating the exterior of the facility.

Bill Bryan Boulevard is shut down in the area of the facility. Casky Lane is open for traffic, but caution is encouraged, according to an update from HFD.
