OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Jason Russell has been appointed as the new principal of Pembroke Elementary. Russell was affirmed on Tuesday by the school’s Sit-Based Decision Making Council and Superintendent Chris Bentzel, said a news release from CCPS.
“I am very humbled and honored to serve as the next principal of Pembroke Elementary School,” said Russell. “Together with our outstanding educators, dedicated staff, and supportive parents, we will continue to create an environment where every child can flourish academically, socially, and emotionally. I look forward to leading Pembroke Elementary as we build on our strong foundation to provide a positive and enriching educational experience for all of our students. Go Owls!”
Russel is a Christian County High alumnus and has worked as an assistant principal since 2015. He has been teaching with Christian County Schools since 1999. He got his start at South Christian Elementary where he was a physical education teacher.
The news release said that in 2004 he joined the school’s administrative team as assistant principal where he remained for 10 years. In 2014, he was named Interim Principal at Lacy Elementary, serving until the school’s closure. A graduate of Murray State University, Russell holds a Rank I certification and a master’s degree in school administration.

With his leadership experience and passion for student success, we are confident that Mr. Russell will continue the traditions of excellence at Pembroke Elementary.”
