HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – For a third year, Joy Closet is bringing the mother-son NERF war to Hopkinsville. This fundraising event for the non-profit will have moms working with, and against their sons during a capture the flag style competition on March 2. The Hopkinsville Police Department and Christian County Sheriff’s Office are joining Joy Closet to coordinate the war and have fun with the community.
“If you have never been, you are definitely missing out! The moms have as much fun if not more than the boys,” said Joy Closet Founder and Executive Director Heather Gray.

Joy Closet is a community foster closet that aims to support local foster/kinship families. The money raised from ticket sales will go into general funds for operating Joy Closet and the Eagle Fly Program.
“There is a huge need for supporting foster/kinship families in every community that has a foster/kinship child and a community foster closet is a great start,” Gray told Christian County Now. “Non-profits are greatly needed to bridge gaps, but those organizations need financial and tangible resources to operate.”
Food, door prizes, and gifts for the participants will be provided. A limited number of tickets are still available on the Joy Closet website and will not be available at the door. The event starts at 3:30 on March 2 at Southside Church of Christ in Hopkinsville. Foster/kinship mothers can receive a code from Joy Closet for free tickets.
