OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Early Sunday morning a driver struck a street sign, a stop sign, and went airborne before landing in a wheat field while attempting to flee deputies.
Before the chase, the driver was racing another vehicle on Ft. Campbell Boulevard, reaching speeds up to 100 mph, according to the Christian County Sheriff’s Office. After deputies began a pursuit, the driver recklessly sped away. The vehicle struck a curb, nearly collided with another vehicle, and narrowly missed hitting a pedestrian changing a flat tire.
The vehicle eventually left the roadway and took out multiple street signs before going airborne and landing in a field. The driver was taken into custody and transported to Jennie Stuart Health for medical clearance before being booked at Christian County Jail.
The high-speed chase resulted in multiple charges including reckless driving, speeding, fleeing or evading police, first-degree criminal mischief, racing motor vehicle on public highway, first degree-wanton endangerment, and failure to produce insurance card.
