HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Tuesday evening, a man fleeing from Hopkinsville Police officers entered a home and prevented a child from calling police.
Around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Hopkinsville Police attempted to pull over a motorcycle that had run multiple stop signs near McKee Street and Central Avenue. The suspect fled on his motorcycle, crashing the bike between two houses and running away, according to a police report. The officer jumped a fence by the houses to follow the suspect, but quickly lost contact.
Police continued to search the area and found someone matching his description coming out from behind a house almost an hour later. The suspect spoke to officers, but the information he gave couldn’t be verified.
A woman eventually approached officers with a bag of clothing she said belonged to the suspect. She told police the suspect came to her back door, which was opened by her 12-year-old daughter. The suspect walked into the house and followed the girl around to prevent her from getting her phone to call 911.
The suspect was arrested and is facing five charges including unlawful imprisonment, burglary, and fleeing police.
