HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Following an extensive search, Christian County Public Schools Superintendent Chris Bentzel revealed on Thursday the appointment of Kevin Crider as the Assistant Superintendent of schools, effective July 1. Crider, who presently holds the position of principal at Christian County High School, will transition into his new role, reporting directly to the CCPS superintendent.

“We are excited to welcome Mr. Crider to the leadership team,” Bentzel said. “His passion for education, combined with his proven leadership abilities, will undoubtedly contribute to the ongoing success of our district.”

According to a news release, Bentzel went on to explain that the selection committee, comprised of district administrators, elementary and secondary principals, reviewed a pool of applicants and ultimately interviewed five highly qualified candidates for the position. Each of the candidates brought a multitude of strengths and talents to the role to be considered.

Crider was ultimately selected for the role and is a graduate of Christian County High School. He began his 25-year teaching career at his alma mater in 1999. In 2004, he served as head baseball coach, winning the state championship with CCHS. In 2006, he transitioned to Athletic Director for two years before moving into the role of assistant principal at CCHS in 2008. He was then selected as principal of Christian County Middle School where he continued until accepting the position of consolidation coordinator with the district. He returned to the role of principal in the spring of 2023 to lead Christian County High School.

“I am extremely honored and humble to accept the Assistant Superintendent position with our district,” said Crider.

Crider is a graduate of Austin Peay State University and Murray State University. He holds a master’s degree in education. He and his wife, reside in Hopkinsville and have two children and one grandson.
