FORT CAMPBELL, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – This month the Southwestern Kentucky Military Affairs Committee helped welcome home the first wave of soldiers back to Fort Campbell. Over the past few weeks, over 200 101st Airborne Division Headquarters soldiers returned home after a nine-month deployment to the southern border.
“To the soldiers of the 101st HQ, welcome home, and thank you for your service and commitment to our country,” said a statement from the MAC. “Southwestern Kentucky is proud to stand behind you and your families every step of the way.”

Beginning in early October of 2025, approximately 500 soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division Headquarters and other enabling units from Fort Campbell deployed to the U.S.-Mexico border “to secure and protect the territorial integrity of the United States.”
The unit operated under the direction of U.S. Northern Command, which worked in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection. Units from multiple installations across the Joint Force will fall under the 101st Headquarters, while physically located in various locations along the southern United States.
Soldiers arrived from deployment on May 8, May 21 and May 27. Volunteers with the Fort Campbell USO and the MAC greeted every soldier on the tarmac and kept spirits high with snacks and support while families waiting for the return.
