HOPKINSVILLE, KY – The Salvation Army of Hopkinsville has received a generous $5,000 matching gift from the Tommy Blair Foundation to support its Angel Tree program and help provide Christmas gifts for “Forgotten Angels,” children whose Angel Tree tags are not adopted or whose gifts are not returned in time for Christmas distribution.

The matching campaign will run from Oct. 1 through Nov. 26, with every dollar donated being matched dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000. If the match is fully met, the effort will generate $10,000 to help provide toys and gifts for local children during the Christmas season.

Tommy Blair, a Christian County native and longtime supporter of helping children experience the joy of Christmas, said the gift is personal to him.

“I remember how excited I was at Christmas time as a child, and it is important to me to help provide that experience to children. I spent my childhood in Christian County, and the area is near and dear to my heart, so I want to come alongside The Salvation Army in their Angel Tree efforts to provide Christmas for children in the area,” said Blair.

Angel Tree provides Christmas gifts for children whose families are facing financial hardship. Each year, community members adopt angel tags and purchase gifts based on a child’s wishes and needs. However, some tags are never selected, while others are returned without gifts. Donations to the Forgotten Angels fund help ensure every registered child receives gifts, regardless of whether their angel is adopted.

Last year, The Salvation Army of Hopkinsville distributed 2,864 toys through its Angel Tree program, providing Christmas joy and hope to hundreds of local children and families.

“This generous matching gift from the Tommy Blair Foundation will have a tremendous impact on children in our community,” said Major Jason Swain, Corps Officer for The Salvation Army of Hopkinsville. “Every year, there are angels who remain unadopted or whose gifts are not returned, and these funds help ensure those children are not forgotten. We are deeply grateful to Tommy Blair and his foundation for investing in local children and helping make Christmas morning brighter for families throughout Christian County.”

Community members can support the matching campaign in several ways:

Every donation made through Nov. 26 will help ensure local children experience the joy, excitement, and hope of Christmas morning.
