HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Erin Westerfield has been appointed to fill the vacant District 1 Christian County School Board seat, which she will occupy until the November election.

Westerfield is a 1999 graduate of Muhlenberg North High School and holds a bachelor’s degree in plant and soil science from the University of Kentucky, according to a press release from CCPS. She is a member of First Baptist Church in Hopkinsville where she has served in various roles in children’s and youth departments. She is also active in the community through 4-H as the Council Secretary, and volunteers with local programs such as 4H Camp Adult leader, the Reality Store, and a former Hopkinsville Junior Auxiliary member.

“I believe strong public schools grow future leaders,” said Westerfield. “When our public schools are strong, our workforce is strong. A strong workforce brings industry and opportunity for economic growth. Economic growth leads to pride in our community and reinvestment back into our schools. When each piece is strengthened, all are strengthened.”

Westerfield and her husband Ben have been married for 20 years and reside in Crofton. They have three daughters who attend Crofton Elementary, Christian County Middle, and Christian County High Schools. Westerfield has been actively involved in Christian County Public Schools for many years having served as a site-based member, substitute teacher, Superintendent’s Advisory Council member, Profile of a Graduate Interview panelist, K-PREP and KSA testing volunteer and Employability Workshop presenter.
