HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A 27-year-old woman is facing drug and endangerment charges after a toddler was found wandering around in the cold unattended.

Officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department were called when a toddler was found walking in the area of Greenwood and Hershey Drive around 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 7.  The one-year-old was unattended, wearing no socks or shoes in 25-degree weather. Upon arrival, the toddler was being kept warm inside the car of a caller.

A canvas of the neighborhood determined the child’s address on Greenwood Drive. It was concluded they had been missing from the home for over half an hour.

When officers made contact with the 27-year-old female suspect at her home, they immediately noticed the smell of marijuana, according to a police report. A search warrant was obtained after she refused consent for a search, where officers found a duffel bag containing several ounces of marijuana as well as packaging and a digital scale.

The woman was arrested around 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday and charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and trafficking in marijuana.
