HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A Hopkinsville man responsible for a fatal collision in October has been arrested and charged with murder after an investigation revealed his high blood alcohol content.
On Oct. 24 at approximately 9:40 p.m., deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a fatal collision on Lovers Lane near Romeo Drive. Upon arrival, deputies determined that a 77-year-old male victim was pronounced deceased. A collision report said the victim was pulled over in his vehicle with the door open to check his mail during the time of the crash.
The Christian County Sheriff’s Office received results on Nov. 7 from the Kentucky State Police Crime Laboratory that indicated the driver of an involved vehicle, Douglas Jones, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, had a blood alcohol content approximately three times the legal limit at the time of the collision, according to a news release from CCSO.
Based on these findings, detectives immediately obtained a warrant for Jones’ arrest. Jones was arrested and transported to the Christian County Jail. He is charged with Murder and Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree.
