OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A suspect was taken into custody by the Oak Grove Police Department in connection with a shooting that occurred on Sunday morning.

On Feb. 8 around 11:38 am, dispatch received reports of a shooting, with a victim suffering a gunshot wound, according to a news release from Oak Grove PD. The victim told officers that 28-year-old Hakim Bowles of Oak Grove had shot him in the leg during an argument over money. Bowles had fled before law enforcement arrived.

Oak Grove PD says a manhunt was launched, and the suspect was found in a “hiding spot” near the Oak Grove Community Center. With assistance from the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, officers safely apprehended Bowles.

He was placed at the Christian County Jail and is being charged with two counts of first-degree assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
