HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A shooting investigation by the Hopkinsville Police Department led to a drug trafficking arrest after meth and pills were found in a vehicle.
On May 13 around 4:30 a.m., HPD was alerted that shots were being fired out of a white Yukon, and a laser was being pointed in the area of East 19th Street. Officers located a similar looking vehicle nearby, and initiated a felony stop in connection to the investigation. The driver, a 36-year-old Hopkinsville man, was immediately detained.
Officers began a search of the vehicle, and a K9 positively alerted. HPD says a metal can for mints was found stuffed with a baggie of suspected methamphetamine. Miscellaneous pills were also located throughout the car.
The suspect was arrested and transported to the Christian County Jail and is being charged with driving on a DUI suspended license, meth trafficking, drug possession among other charges. He is not facing any charges related to the shots fired at this time.
