HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle due to a suspected DUI right before midnight on Tuesday. The police report says the officer smelt marijuana when the suspect rolled down the window of his car on South Clay Street.
An arrest was made after the man began to fidget and initially refused to put the vehicle in park. After a brief struggle, he was detained and police found a bag containing M30 pills, according to a police report. More officers arrived on scene and found methamphetamine in the waistband of his underwear.
In addition to finding drugs in his possession, police also found a loaded Taurus handgun near the driver’s seat, and another handgun on the passenger’s seat. The suspect was later confirmed to be a convicted felon, which means he should not be in possession of a handgun.
He also did not have insurance or up to date registration on the vehicle.
The suspect is facing eight charges including tampering with physical evidence and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
