HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – On Tuesday morning, officers were dispatched to South Campbell Street in Hopkinsville after a mailman was bit in the leg by a loose dog.
According to reports, the victim was delivering mail to a front porch when two dogs forced the storm door open, chased after him and one bit him in the left leg. Prior to the bite, the victim used pepper spray, which had no effect on the dogs. His left leg suffered a puncture injury to the middle calf area.
Police say the owner of the dogs arrived as they were taking the report. Officers verified that the dogs’ shot records were not up to date, and the dogs were seized for quarantine.
The owner was charged with harboring a vicious animal, and the dogs need to be vaccinated against rabies.
