HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – March’s History on Tap event is celebrating Women’s History Month by diving into the history of Christian County native Louise Jones.
In 1896 following the death of her mother, seven-year-old Louise Jones became one of the wealthiest people in Christian County. Her father died when she was two and was the first president of the City Bank of Hopkinsville. As the family’s sole heir, the young orphan inherited a great estate and led a fascinating life.
Museum Director Alissa Keller will explore the story of this local woman in all of its beauty and tragedy, according to a news release from the museum.
History on Tap is free and open to the public. The events are held at Hopkinsville Brewing Company and is a great way for people in the community to learn about local history in a fun and relaxed setting. This month’s event will be March 28 at 6:30 p.m.
