HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A man who was arrested for the fatal stabbing of a Hopkinsville man is facing additional charges after fleeing from police potentially under the influence of drugs.

Around 1:30 a.m. on July 4, 42-year-old John Anthony Foster was stabbed to death at his residence on Butler Road. An arrest report from the Christian County Sheriff’s Office says Foster and 41-year-old Julian Bell of Hopkinsville were involved in an argument over a past relationship, which resulted Foster being stabbed four times. During the altercation, another individual attempted to intervene, and she received a critical injury to her hand.

Bell fled from the residence, and the Hopkinsville Police Department was alerted with a description of his vehicle. He was spotted on Canton Street turning onto West 17th Street and drove away at a high rate of speed when officers initiated a pursuit.

According to an arrest report from HPD, the vehicle drove over the curb on East Seventh Street and into the parking of The Crusty Pig. The pursuing officer pinned the vehicle against the front patio wall of the restaurant to prevent the suspect from driving further.

Bell was detained at 2:35 a.m. and two knives with blood on them were found in the driver’s seat. A glass pipe often used for smoking meth was also located in a vehicle, and the arresting officer noted that he had slurred speech and behavior that was consistent with being under the influence of a controlled substance.

It was also discovered that Bell was driving on a DUI suspended license. In addition to the murder and assault charges from CCSO, he is also being charged by HPD with possession of drug paraphernalia, public intoxication under a controlled substance, fleeing or evading police, and other traffic related offenses.
