HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Law enforcement initiated a police pursuit Wednesday morning in Hopkinsville after Flock cameras successfully located the vehicle involved in a robbery.
In a news release, HPD said that at approximately 11:12 a.m. on Sept. 9, officers responded to the 1900 block of Jan Drive following a report of a robbery. Upon arrival, officers obtained descriptions of the suspects and their vehicle, which were immediately relayed to other officers.
At approximately 11:36 a.m., officers located the vehicle shortly after it was detected by the Flock camera system. The suspects refused to stop for officers, and a vehicle pursuit ensued. During the pursuit, officers and deputies deployed spike strips in an attempt to safely bring the vehicle to a stop. However, the suspects continued to flee.
CCSO Public Information Officer John Godsey said the pursuit ended on Butler Road at Gospel Peace Road, where deputies used a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver and took the suspects into custody. The car caught fire shortly after the arrest and was extinguished by the Highland Fire Department. Photos shared by CCSO show that the vehicle had left the roadway when the fire occurred.
This remains an active investigation by HPD, additional details about the robbery and arrests have not been shared by investigators at this time.
