HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A t-shirt fundraiser has been started on behalf of the Chrisitan County Sheriff’s Office to help the department purchase a new law enforcement K9.

At the March 25 Christian County Fiscal Court meeting, Erica Miller shared information about the new Jaws & Paws for a Cause Fundraiser she launched alongside Nicole Gentry. Both individuals work in the Judge Executive’s office and decided to design a shirt to sell in the hopes of paying the hefty price tag to assist deputies.

Their goal is to raise a total of $10,000 to cover all costs for purchasing a trained dog from overseas. “That means we have to sell 1,000 shirts to purchase one K9,” said Miller. “They are highly expensive dogs which is why it’s so hard for us to get so many of them. So, we are hoping that this fundraiser can help us donate back to the Christian County Sheriff’s Office.”

According to Sheriff Tyler DeArmond, the department recently purchased two K9’s who are integral in assisting with investigations and patrols. In order for them to reach their goal, they will have to sell 1,000 shirts.

Shirts are currently on sale for $25-$30, depending on the size, with the CCSO being donated $10 from each sale. Orders can be emailed to Erica Miller at emiller@christiancountyky.gov, or via phone at 815-677-3803. Cash and checks can be made out to Nicole Gentry at the Judge Executives Office. People can also pay through Cashapp with their size and number of shirts in the notes to $EricaMiller124. They will place their first order on April 4.
