HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Hopkinsville Police Department launched an investigation into a theft of a trailer and lawn equipment that led to the arrest of a 49-year-old man on Wednesday.
According to an arrest report from HPD, on July 22 a local business owner contacted police to report the theft of a 5×12 drop trailer, two push mowers, and a weed eater on Country Club Lane. Officers were able to access camera footage at a nearby business that captured the theft the day before, and the vehicle associated with the theft.
The suspect was seen attaching the trailer to a truck with no visible license plate and then loading the equipment into the trailer. Footage also showed the suspect on a bicycle at the site on Sunday, leaving with a weed eater.
HPD was able to identify the suspect and locate his address. He confessed to officers, saying that he thought it was all scrap. The man was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and marijuana.
He was arrested and charged with drug possession, along with theft.
