HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A Hopkinsville man has been arrested, and more details have been shared about a robbery and high-speed pursuit that ended in a fiery crash on Wednesday.
Officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department responded to Jan Drive just after 11 a.m. on Sept. 9 in response to a robbery. The victim told HPD that the suspect, McHale Manning-Lewis of Hopkinsville, entered the home wanting to use the bathroom. A second individual, who was not identified in the police report, entered the home with a small rifle aimed at the victim.
Manning-Lewis also obtained a rifle and threatened the victim and his minor son inside the home, hitting the victim with the weapon and using verbal threats while keeping them in the residence, according to HPD. The victim was forced to send money to the suspects through CashApp and Apple Pay, and they both additionally stole a television, gaming console, and cellular device from the home.
Manning-Lewis left the scene in a vehicle with a juvenile passenger inside. Based on information obtained by HPD, Flock cameras located the vehicle on East 18 Street, and a pursuit was initiated after the suspect did not pull over. The vehicle drove at a high rate of speed and into the shoulder of roadways, driving through stop sticks.
As previously reported by Christian County Now, the pursuit ended on Butler Road at Gospel Peace Road, where deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office used a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver and took the Manning-Lewis into custody. The car caught fire shortly after the arrest and was extinguished by the Highland Fire Department.
While the second suspect was not apprehended, Manning-Lewis was taken to the Christian County Jail and is being charged with robbery, wanton endangerment, kidnapping-adult, kidnapping-minor, criminal mischief, wanton endangerment of a police officer, fleeing police and several traffic violations.
