CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – On Saturday hundreds of people were without power in the Gracey area after a vehicle struck an electric pole, leaving one man severely injured.
Deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the crash scene on July 19 close to 6 p.m. The vehicle had collided with an electric pole and had flipped onto its side near Newstead Road and We Like It Lane. According to a collision report from CCSO, the pole was completely destroyed from the crash.
The 51-year-old driver was found outside of the vehicle with visible injuries to his face and arm and was flown via helicopter to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee for treatment. Further investigation revealed that the driver had a suspended license and had driven the car without permission from the owner.
A large quantity of marijuana was found in the vehicle along with drug paraphernalia, as well as an open container of alcohol. Pennyrile Electric shared that around 600 members were without power while crews worked to repair approximately $8,000 worth of damage.
