HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – On Wednesday afternoon, a 39-year-old Crofton man under the influence of meth was arrested at the Jennie Stuart Medical Center emergency room.

An arrest report says that officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department were dispatched to the hospital around 1 p.m. on July 30 in reference to a patient threatening staff and causing a disturbance. The suspect had attempted to leave the hospital after swallowing an eight ball, or an eighth of an ounce, of methamphetamine. While being escorted back to his room, he began yelling and cursing at staff members. After this altercation, he was asked to leave.

When officers attempted to escort the suspect out of the building, he began live streaming video on his phone and became combative when officers disclosed that he was being trespassed from the property. According to HPD, there was a brief struggle before the suspect was successfully in handcuffs.

HPD believe he was manifestly under the influence of meth during the arrest and is described as sweating profusely and unable to comprehend simple statements. He is being charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and public intoxication of a controlled substance.
